Carpet

The warmest, quietest floor in the house.

Carpet is the floor your kids learn to crawl on. It is also the only floor that absorbs sound, holds heat, and turns a basement from a project room into a finished living space.

Our showroom carries over 200 styles, and we bring sample boards to every in-home consultation. The fiber, the pattern, and the pad all matter - we will walk you through which combination fits the room.

How it works

Four steps. One relationship.

  3. 03

    Source & Schedule

We order through manufacturers we know. You get a fixed quote, a written warranty, a confirmed start date - and one point of contact through the entire job.

Materials

Fiber, twist, and pad - all three matter.

Solution-dyed nylon is the most durable residential fiber, holds color through bleach, and runs 15+ years in main living spaces. PET (polyester) is softer underfoot, more affordable, and right for bedrooms and dens.

Pad spec is non-negotiable. We recommend 8-pound rebond pad as standard, 10-pound for stairs and high-traffic areas. Cheap pad collapses in two years and voids most carpet warranties.

Brands we trust

Carpet brands we trust.

We do not chase the cheapest box on the truck. We work with manufacturers who back their materials, document their warranties, and make a product that wears the way they say it will.

Where it fits

Bedrooms, basements, family rooms, stairs.

Bedrooms and basements are the obvious fits. Family rooms with kids and pets benefit from the warmth and sound dampening, especially over a basement or slab.

Stairs deserve careful spec - capped vs waterfall installation, fiber type, and pad density all change how the carpet wears at the nose of every tread.

Carpet install detail
Install

Power-stretched, properly seamed, no shortcuts.

Every carpet project we manage gets power-stretched, not knee-kicked. Knee-kicked carpet looks fine on day one and ripples in eighteen months.

Seams are placed away from main sight lines and away from heavy traffic, glued and sealed at the edge to prevent fraying.

After the install

How to keep it looking new - and what is covered if it does not.

Care & maintenance

  • Vacuum twice a week in high-traffic rooms with a quality beater-bar
  • Address spills immediately - blot, do not rub
  • Schedule a professional hot-water extraction every 12-18 months
  • Keep fresh pad under it - cheap pad collapses and voids the warranty

Warranty coverage

  • Lifetime workmanship warranty on every install we manage
  • Manufacturer texture-retention warranty (typically 5-25 years)
  • Stain warranty on solution-dyed and treated fibers
  • Pad warranty proportional to density - we install 8 lb minimum

Carpet installation in the Coulee Region

Carpet is the warmest, quietest floor in the house - which is why it is still the right answer for bedrooms, basements, family rooms, and stairs. Our showroom carries over 200 carpet styles in solution-dyed nylon, standard nylon, and PET, with samples we bring to every in-home consultation.

MVP Interiors installs carpet across western Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota, and northeast Iowa. Every install includes power-stretching, premium 8-pound rebond pad standard, proper seam placement, and a final walk-through with care instructions.

Why pad spec matters more than carpet spec

Most homeowners pick the carpet first and treat the pad as an afterthought. That is backwards. The pad is what determines how long the carpet feels new, how comfortable it is underfoot, and whether the manufacturer warranty stays valid. Cheap 5-6 pound pad collapses in two years and shortens the carpet life by 30-40 percent.

We install 8-pound rebond pad as our standard, 10-pound on stairs and high-traffic areas. The price difference is small. The lifetime difference is enormous.

Pet-friendly and family-friendly carpet options

Modern carpet handles pets and kids better than ever. Solution-dyed nylon stays colorfast through bleach-based stain cleaners. Stain-treated fibers shed liquid spills before they soak through. Moisture-blocking pads keep accidents out of the subfloor.

When you sit down with us at the showroom or during an in-home estimate, we walk you through which combinations actually hold up - not just which carry the highest manufacturer warranty number.

Carpet cost factors

What goes into a carpet installation estimate.

We do not advertise a single per-square-foot number because real flooring projects are not single-variable equations. Here are the factors that move the price up or down on a typical carpet install.

  1. 01

    Fiber type

Solution-dyed nylon is the most durable residential fiber and the most expensive. Standard nylon is the next tier. PET (polyester) is softer underfoot, more affordable, and the right call for bedrooms. Wool is luxury-tier and rare.

  2. 02

    Twist and density

Twist count (how tightly each fiber is twisted) determines how a carpet handles foot traffic. Higher twist = better wear retention. Density (how tightly the fibers are packed) determines how a carpet feels and how it ages. Both matter more than the marketed "warranty length."

  3. 03

    Pad density

We install 8-pound rebond pad as standard, 10-pound on stairs and high-traffic. Cheap 5-6 pound pad collapses in two years and voids most carpet warranties. Pad cost is a small line item but makes a huge difference in how the carpet ages.

  4. 04

    Stair installation method

Capped stairs (where the carpet wraps around each tread and stops at the riser) cost more than waterfall (where carpet runs continuously over the nose). Capped looks more finished and wears better at the nose; waterfall is faster to install.

  5. 05

    Pattern matching

Patterned carpet costs more in waste and labor because seams have to align. Solid carpet has no pattern-match concerns. We quote pattern-match labor separately so you can see the line item.

Carpet questions

Frequently asked questions about carpet installation.

Real questions we get on carpet estimates - answered straight, with no high-pressure follow-up.

Is carpet still a good choice in 2026?

+

Absolutely - for bedrooms, basements, family rooms, and stairs. Modern solution-dyed nylon carpets are dramatically more stain-resistant and durable than what was on the market 15 years ago, and pad construction has improved enormously. Carpet remains the warmest, quietest, most comfortable floor for the rooms where comfort matters.

Which carpet is best for pets?

+

Solution-dyed nylon is the gold standard for pet-friendly carpet. The color is locked into the fiber itself, which means even bleach-based pet stain cleaners cannot strip the color. Combined with a stain-resistant treatment and a moisture-blocking pad, you get a carpet that handles real life with pets.

How long does carpet installation take?

+

A typical bedroom installs in half a day. A full second floor with stairs runs one to two days. Basement carpet installs in one day for most floor plans. We move furniture, pull up the old carpet, prep the floor, install pad, install carpet, and clean up the same day.

Should I get plush, frieze, or berber?

+

Plush is the most luxurious feel and best for bedrooms. Frieze (twisted-fiber) hides traffic patterns better and is great for living rooms and family rooms. Berber (looped construction) is the most durable and easiest to clean - the right choice for stairs, hallways, and high-traffic spaces.

How often should I replace my carpet?

+

Quality carpet with proper pad lasts 10-15 years in main living areas, 15-20 years in bedrooms. Hot-water extraction every 12-18 months adds years to the life. The two things that kill carpet early are cheap pad (which collapses) and skipping vacuuming (grit grinds the fibers).

Do you install carpet on stairs?

+

Yes - we install both capped (where carpet wraps each tread) and waterfall (continuous over the nose) styles. Stair installation requires extra material, extra labor, and proper power-stretching at every transition. We use 10-pound pad on stairs and double-tack at every riser.

Financing

12-month same-as-cash and 84-month fixed-rate plans available.

Most decisions return in minutes. We work with GreenSky and Synchrony so you can lock the project, then choose terms that fit your budget.
